Four Weeks Off, On Us: Introducing Fell’s Sabbatical for Long-Serving Team Members

Image (11)

At Fell, we know that the strength of our brewery comes from the people behind it. Brewing beer is a team effort that thrives on creativity, dedication and passion and we believe those qualities deserve to be recognised. That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new perk for our long-standing team members, a four-week sabbatical for anyone who reaches seven years of service. It’s our way of saying thank you, while giving our people the chance to rest, recharge and return with fresh inspiration.

Watson, our Design Lead, was one of the first to take up this new perk and spent four weeks in Canada. A little write-up from Watson on what he got up to below!

Huge Thanks to Fell Brewery for the Honeymoon of a Lifetime

A massive shoutout to Fell Brewery for letting me take a sabbatical so Kelly and I could head off on our honeymoon to British Columbia, Canada. Honestly, I’m not sure how I’ll ever top this trip (though I’ll happily give it a go if I can wangle an 8-week sabbatical for 14 years’ service?!).

We kicked things off on the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island—walking some of the most beautiful beaches, clambering through dense rainforest, and scaling the tallest ladders I’ve ever seen. We ate trail mix while gawking at orca, mink, seals, and even humpbacks, and capped off our days with questionable dehydrated meals by driftwood campfires. Not a bad start to married life, hey?

From there, Kelly and I treated ourselves (more than once) to J&L Drive Thru in Port Alberni, followed by some much-needed lazy beach days in Tofino. Then it was on to Cumberland, where the daily routine quickly became: mountain bike, drink beer, repeat. The perfect balance.

Next, we hopped on the ferry back to the mainland and settled into Squamish—ticking off the Chiefs, riding the trails around Diamond Head and Alice Lake, and camping up at the jaw-dropping Garibaldi Lake. Safe to say, we earned our snacks that week (mainly happy hour at Tacofino, plus a bazillion beers at Backcountry Brewing and Howe Sound Brewing). We even made the most of a rainy rest day by visiting the Mining Museum—which absolutely delighted my beautiful nerd of a wife.

Then it was on to Whistler for four days of bike park madness by day and town vibes by night. Kelly was an absolute nutcase, chasing me down some ridiculous trails at a worryingly fast pace. Finally, we wrapped it all up back in Squamish: tired, muddy, happy, and catching up with old friends who’ve made their home in beautiful B.C.

None of this would’ve been possible without Fell Brewery being absolute legends and giving me the time off. I couldn’t be more grateful. Now it’s back to reality—re-energised, inspired, and hopefully facing fewer bears and a lot less saddle sore.
