Hi all,

I’m genuinely really excited to share with you Fell Brewery’s very first external sustainability report. It’s a pretty big deal for us—not just as a brewery, but as a team deeply committed to doing right by our planet. It marks the end of the beginning of a journey we’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes for a few years now, and it’s a step that we’re proud to be taking. Fell Beer is about creativity, community, and joy—and now, we want to extend that same approach to tackling our responsibility to our environment, local area and the wider economy

In early 2024, we partnered with Small World Consultancy, led by Professor Mike Berners Lee, for a thorough carbon footprint analysis. This gave us the insight and confidence we needed to really know where to focus our efforts. We’ve already taken substantial steps: installing solar panels, changing how we work as a team, and partnering with suppliers as committed to this journey as we are. We think these steps have reduced our carbon intensity by around 23% so far, but we’re aiming much higher. By 2028, we have a plan to achieve a total reduction of 50%, with Fell Beer having less than 150g CO2e per pint. This is ambitious, but achievable and we’re genuinely excited to be taking on the challenge.

However, this isn’t the end—it’s just the start. What’s coming after that is even more exciting, with innovative technologies and new sustainable practices becoming increasingly viable. Our aim is to inspire meaningful change across the brewing industry and beyond. I’m more optimistic than ever that we can find a way to enable all of us to enjoy great, local beer confident that we can do so for decades to come, enhancing our world rather than damaging it.

Thanks for being part of this journey. We’ll keep you updated with progress and insights along the way, staying true to the Fell way—open, honest, and without shortcuts.
